Japan's 8.8 Earthquake

Yesterday hundreds of Otakus awoke to find their homes washed away or completely destroyed. On 3/11/11 a terrible 8.8 earthquake shook the very bowels off the land of Nippon. But alas that was not the least of the Japs problem. This terrible earthquake brought forth a tsunami, also a damp broke and thus the Japs were flooded both by the tsunami and by the broken damp. It is a terrible tragedy what occurred in Japan, to add insult to injury two of their nuclear reactors are malfunctioning. Their two greatest accept might just prove to be their undoing.

Dragon Age 2 Review

Ah, the second part of dragon Age. It seems that the first part was a one hit wonder. Nope, no armies to raise, no Flemeth to fight. Heck it is even lucky that anything interesting happened in that bloody game. Overall, it was like Dragon Age awakening. You had to choose between a crazy Lyrium possessed Paladin or a super cool looking mage that went bad in the end.

St. Patrick's Day

Tomorrow 3/17/2011 in the US and Ireland we will celebrate St. Patrick's day. It is a days for all to get drunk while watching a fine St. Patrick's day parade. In the 20s, during the prohibition gangster used to sell green colored beer and they would have dwarf parade while wearing a Leprechauns costumes. Leprechauns are the mascots of St. Patrick's day. They say that if you capture one he can lead you to the other side of the rainbow for you to steal his gold. In one of the many Legends of the Leprechaun it is said that his gold grants wishes. The problem is that these wishes usually backfire once the Leprechaun comes back to take the gold. Heck, they made five movies out of that myth.

Vacation Gone Wrong

I recently just got out of my spring vacation. While others were having fun times at the beach and the like, I spent it prostrated in the bed with a fever that would not fall bellow 38 C. When it finally broke my immune system was not what it used to. The whole illness was due to odd bacterias that I got for something rotten I ate somewhere. Anyhow, long story short, the medicine I had to take for the bacterias turned me into a vampire for a while.

Dove Strikes Out

In a strange way, this blog has something to do with the howl that was killed by the soccer player. In this occasion, however, a dove intercepted a fast ball thrown by a pitcher. Anyone who knows anything about baseball knows that he average speed of a baseball ranges from 60 to 90 miles per hour. This one in particular was rumored to have gone at least 80 mph. Needless to say, the bird died. Unlike the howl incident, this dove was killed by accident.

Mardi Gras

You all must be wondering what posses us to go to Universal Mardi Gras parade. Well, the story is sorta a silly tragi-comic one. This dream trip took root on a mild Friday afternoon. We were driving back home with mother when she said "lets go to mardi gras, this Saturday" and we both said "yeah". In matter of hours we prepared the essentials for the trip. We took only two sets of clothing and hoped against hope that it would be this Saturday.

Anyhow, the trip took an eternity or two as usual. We had to wake up at 4 AM to get to Orlando by 9 AM. On the way, we saw a lovely gringo couple with to lil Chinese girls. Adoption is such a nice thing. Anyhow, we got to kissimi the border town between Orlando and the Disney parks. We by 10 am we rented a one night room at a quality in. While there we found a lady selling tickets and that my friends was the beginning of the end. We were under the impression that with one ticket you cold go to two parks. alas, things have changed a lot in Orlando.

Owl ! ouch...

Last night I saw one of the most bizarre videos of soccer history. In this video a soccer player named Pereira Luis Moreno Kicks an owl. Now, let me explain how it all transpired. It seems that the poor Owl might have blocked on of his goals. Infuriated with the poor bewildered owl, Moreno took impulse and sent the owl mile high. This was captured on national television and now millions watched horrified at the terrible anime cruelty perpetrated by this soccer player. The reason that I am brining this video to your attention is the fact that it is just too damn funny.

UH!? Mike Tyson Raises Pigeons?

Believe it or not. Mike Tyson left his boxing career to raise pigeons. i would not have found it odd if he had gone o raises horses, or parrots or some other pretty animals, but pigeons. Those ugly flying rats. I mean those things are really dirty , plus they carry the bird flue. Still, I bet his birds (considering that they are the pets of a super rich boxer) might get better medical attention that would be the envy of all uninsured.

Elements of a Good Graphic Novel

For starters, what a great anime show needs is technique. Some individualism in the face, speech pattern and personality is required in order to make original characters. They cannot be 2 dimensional. They have to evolve as the show progresses. Naruto is a perfect example. You remember how little Naruto could not sit still for even a second. Look at him now, all mature meditating under the snow without moving a muscle in order to obtain sage mode. Can you imagine how hard this must be for someone who by nature is hipper active. It is not wonder his sage mode is so extremely powerful.

No Wade No Game

Yay, I am so happy Dwayne Wade is feeling better. Basketball has been pretty boring ever since he hurt his leg. Plus, the heat has been struggling a lot without him. Without him there cannot be any Bosh, Lebron and Wade dream team. He is the life, the heat of the Miami heat. Now Wade no Game as the saying goes.

Things About Bleach that Really Weird me Out

I been thinking a lot about bleach and there are many things that do not seem to make sense at all. I know that this is anime and that anime is supposed to be fun or whatever. Still its becoming harder and harder to focus on an anime show that has far too many odd things that jump out at you like a rat in a closest. for starters why does a spirit need organs. I understand that the spirits in bleach should feel pain or get severed limbs or whatever. But why does a soul reaper, a hollow or a lil ghost child need organs.

And for that matter why do the spirit people in bleach bleed? It makes them look too human. and besides I have other issues about soul reapers. Like the soul reapers needing to eat some sort of rechi burger and rechi rice ball and the like. I get why hollows eat other humans souls. It is a given, however, the fact that soul reapers get nutrients from some bizarre spirit food is beyond me. And besides if they must eat why should it look like something natural. natural food in the soul society is the most unnatural scenario and the world.

My Last Trip to Miami Beach

Well, actually folks I have gone to Miami beach trice already this month. However, this post is only gonna focus on yesterdays' trip. It was freaking awesome, we arrived at 11 AM and arrived back home at 9 PM. Yep, we where soaking in the man of war (jelly fish) infested water for 10 hours. That day Miami Beach was having one of those super high class polo matches. This is not something new, they practically have these matches every year. Luckily this year I had my camera. Yesterday, the whole beach was full of horses and the like. I did not feel like watching the match but at least I took a few good horsey pics. Can you imagine how hard that sport must be?

Top ten Anime Immortals

This blog will list the top ten anime immortals along with my reasons for believing why they are immortal. Immortality in essence means they cannot die or that they are almost impossible to kill. Immortality can be rated in two fashions. One is infinite healing and the other is the ability to sprout back after being completely annihilated. For example, certain immortals if they lose their head they die, while others can grow back even if they have a small cell left of them. Meanwhile there are others who own their immortality to a certain item , a certain jewel of the four souls, a philosopher stone that helps them grow back. However, without that item they are as mortal as you or me. but enough with the intro. As for the pick, that's jean Grey she is somewhat immortal but she did not make it to the top ten, she takes forever to come back to life (1000 years to be more exact).

The Royal Wedding between Prince Williams and Catherine Middleton

Today is the royal wedding between Prince William and Catherina Middleton. Like a Cinderella transformed into a princess, Catherine at this moment is saying "I do" to the dear prince charming. Since everyone today seems to going crazy about the wedding I decided to jump into the bandwagon as well. I mean for crying out loud so far there has been at least more than four million tweets about this wedding. This event obviously has nothing to do with anime but whatever. The great celebration began with the marching of the Coldstream guards ( you know the guys in red with the odd hats). Behind them marched the commoners cheering after their future new king and Queen. Catherina does seem queenly in her own unique fashion. Never has such a wedding come to pass in England since the wedding of the pretty Lady Di.

Colonel H. Stinkmeaner : "Whats good Phi Stars!? Whats Really Good?"

Colonel H. Stinkmeaner is positively the most horrible human being ever created in both the anime world and in the real world. Truly he is the work of a sick mind. He is know for his catch phrase whats good nigga. Ever since he was born he was a grumpy old man, his response to his blindness was "at least I don't have to look at your ugly face". His love of hate kept this rotten weed alive until the ripe old age of 70. Its a good thing granddad but the rabbi dog to sleep.

For those that do not know, Stinkmeaner got in a fight with granddad for ruining Dorothy. Due to some odd stroke of luck his abilities where greatly exaggerated. The Freeman family believed him to like Zatoichi. Huey did not help at all , he showed granddad one of his movies where the blind samurai cuts a man in half with his blade. So after he killed the old blind niggah he came back even worst after completely his training in hell. now officially he was a super powerful blind warrior.

My Fond Video Game Anecdotes

I fell in love with video games at the age of Two. My father bought me my first Nintendo and together with my brother we used to watch Mario defeat Bouser. During my video game experience there has been many memorable moments that have brought some spice into my life. In this blog I will focus in more contemporary anecdotes of my later video game experience. Most of it focuses on my experiences with video games RPG games, Guitar Hero and Devil May Cry and just one regarding ghost in the shell.

When I first tried the platinum match, I had heard rumors that Bahamut was to be the opponent. For those that do not know (or cared) Bahamut is one of the classical summon monsters of the Final Fantasy series. However, I was delighted to discover it was Sephiroth. Among the first issues about fighting Sephiroth was the fact that his sword covered a large range of area. Brother first fought him in level 41 in our first file. We had yet to discover Arcs of Arcanum , oblivion and all the other fancy accessories needed to putting a Sephiroth to sleep. So in a low level with no strategy and with a weak Areo technique fighting Sephiroth proved to be an exercise in futility.

The next blog I will discuss the ten battles that are in my opinion the best in anime history. These battles are unparalleled both in magnitude and in finest. Here you will not see any one sided battle. All the participants are on even ground more or less. I choose these battles for how visually awesome they are. They are both down to earth and far out. The battles displayed here will be the be stone to one battles, the best giant robot battle, the best one sided battle and the best samurai battle. Anyhow without further ado I will give you the first battle.

Mothers Day: Top ten Anime Mothers

This post is inspired in my own mother. She is the best mother out there because not only is she my mama but also my friend. It is for this reason that for the coming mother’s day I will blog about the top ten anime mothers. Mothers in anime are noted for their self sacrifice and devotion. It is thanks to them that the main characters are able to grow into a worthy person. The first eight mothers where easier enough to choose however the last two gave me a bit of a headache. I had spent a lot of time deciding between Ifalna and Rem. But for reasons that I will explain later on Ifalna lost her spot at number one. But it was a tight race nonetheless.

Not only is Victoria Frances a talented artist but she does a bit of Gothic modeling on the side.

The art of Victoria Frances can be seen circulating in hundreds of vampire, heavy metal and Gothic forums. Her art truly is awe inspiring. She brings to the surface the dark wonders that lie buried deep within our shattered souls. The first broken carcasses is this maiden dressed in a black Victorian dress. This painting is called "Cat". There are 3 cats. So considering that there tittle is "Cat", perhaps Frances is referring to her Gothic girl. She does have quite the feline quality about her. Plus, she has the same eyes as her three cats. Overall, this painting is rather creepy. I like best her two black roses and her earnings. They have quite the metallic shine about them. For the cat and the earnings this painting obtains a 5 star rating.

Merisi da Caravaggio

Caravaggio was quite the disturbed trouble soul. From this soul some of the most darkly beautiful biblical paintings came into existence.His artwork was both realistic and emotional. It was his brilliant handling of Tenebrims (dark creepy theatrical lighting) that won him hundred of commissions. Despite his success he had a knack for getting into dept. His gambling problems as well as his passive aggressive attitude earned him the graph of the Pope who put a hit on him. At the tender age of 38, Caravaggio died of a fever. But enough of info on his life. Let us focus on his work.

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

Recently I reread the novella Metamorphosis. I cannot help but identify with Gregor Samsa. Not in body, but in spirit. He used to be so self sufficient and then he woke up one morning in the form of a hideous vermin. The first time I read it, I could half understand it. You need a certain degree of knowledge of the English language in order to understand it. In my opinion, it is better to read it in English than in Spanish. English is closer to the original German language.Thus, it makes for a better translation. When I first read it in Spanish, the narrator gave me the impression that Gregor was a tiny roach. Near the end, I came to realize that he was a giant hideous vermin. As I read the Spanish version, I kept asking to myself " why do they have to move the furniture for one tiny bug?". But alas, Gregor is one huge bug.

Kipi Haruhi

Haruhi Suzumiya is quite the interesting anime character. She has been described by many as the anime equivalent of Lolita (which is not a compliment). Anyhow, here some nice pictures of Kipi doing a Haruhi Suzumiya cosplay.

Kipi makes a wonderful Haruhi. She has the same happy disposition as the Haruhi anime character. In this photo Kipi/Haruhi is blessing the viewers. Weird hu? 5 Stars by the way.

Artemisia Gentileschi

Artemisia (a variation of the name Artemis, Greek virgin goddess of the forest) Gentileschi was quite the fascinating Baroque artist (1593–1652). At a early age her father introduced her to the world of art. Much to her dismay one day her tutor raped the poor girl. This rape would later inspire many of her artwork that feature women taking vengeance upon men or men assaulting women.

The intro painting is called Susana and the Elders made in 1910. Artemisia did this painting with the help of her father. The story portrayed above comes from the book of Daniel. Susana ,a rich pretty lady, was bathing in the river. Two lecherous Elders came by and started flirting with her. Since she refused to betray her husband the Elders then accused her of adultery. Both claimed that she had slept with a guy during the river. During her trail the Prophet Daniel spoke on her behalf. He interviewed both men separately. Because their stories did not match Daniel was able to prove Susana's innocence. Anyhow, for this pretty painting deserves 5 stars.

The Experiments of Henri Fuseli

Henry Fuseli is quite the interesting artist. He was active as an artist between 1750s and 1820s. His style is that of Romanticism. For those that do not know (or care) romanticism came about as a challenge to the Enlightenment. While the Enlighten noblemen where thinking that peace and prosperity laid inside the fumes of an industrial factory waste pipe the Romantics where thinking "yeah right". They hated how materialistic the world had become. Fuseli is of this lot. it is for this reason that his art is so fantastic, so bizarre. Like monsters out of a nightmare. His innovations made him the most feared artist of his time. His work brought many erudite to his senses.

Cosplays

Part of the Anime culture is the art of cosplay. It is an odd fashion statement made by otakus in order to show their support for the anime shows they prefer. The earliest cosplay tradition dates as far back as the 1600 in Spain, La Mancha, where the Don Quixote used to do a cosplay of night. Following his example (unknowingly), cosplayers dress and pretend to be their favorite anime chararacters. Anyhow, here are some cosplays that are rather noteworthy.
