Today, I wanted to review some of Nicolas Poussin's paintings about love. The first painting is about the romance between Rinaldo and Armida. Armida was an enemy sorceress. She had been sent by the Saracen to stop the movement of the Crusading Christians. As a assassin witch, Armida had managed put Rinaldo asleep. He was the general of the Crusaders. However, she fell in love with the Rinaldo. In this painting, she is admiring his beauty. Cupid is stopping her dagger from killing Rinaldo. This cute romantic painting by Poussin deserves 5 stars rating.

Today, I wanted to review some of the paintings by Nicolas Poussin. He was a french baroque artist. He mostly undertook classical and biblical subjects. Most of his painting career was spent in Rome. He died with a relative good amount of wealth. I think that is everything worth mentioning about Poussin. His artwork was far more interesting than his life. As such, I will now rate some paintings about Venus.

These last paintings are Courbet's socially aware paintings. Above, three poor people are listening to a violin player. The dog on the floor is softly sleeping while the musician plays. The guy in the far left is drinking. The guy beside him is smoking a pipe. This shows that he is from the working class poor. The entire scenery shows that even the poor partake of the enjoyment of music. It is just one of the few pleasures they can indulge. In any case, this depressing painting by Gustave Courbet deserves 5 stars rating.

It should also be original and innovative. As a proponent of this new avant garde art, Courbet tried hard to paint in his own unique way.

Georges de la Tour was a French Baroque artist. He was a great fan of Caravaggio. Like him, he painted religious scenes using chiaroscuro. However, unlike Caravaggio, La Tour added a well defined light. He used the candles to represent divine light. No one is certain where La Tour learned to paint. Art Scholars  also wonder when and were he saw Caravaggio's work. Not much is known about his life. One day, his family and himself died of the plague. All that remained of La Tour was his artwork. I think that is enough background information about Georges de la Tour. All we know for certain about him is that we hardly know anything about his life.

Umberto Buccioni was a 5 stars worthy Italian painter and sculpture. Despite his short life, Boccioni managed to produce 100 artworks. His artwork helped shape and define the futurism movement. Due to its relatively new age, it took a while before Boccioni painted in the futurism style. For those that do not know, futurism was an art movement concerned with the future. It glorified speed, youth, violence and technology. At times, Buccini blended his futurism art with cubism and Impressionism.

Today, I wanted to review some lovely digital art wallpapers. These wallpapers were made by Kelley Harris. She features her artwork in her own personal website. From all her forty wallpapers, these four were the only ones worth rating. Keeping this in mind. allow me to begin this review. The first digital art worth rating features Maleficent. She is the evil fairy witch from Disney's "Sleeping Beauty". Harris captured well Maleficent's evil nature. The worms eye view works really well. This view makes it seem that Maleficent is looking at the viewer as if we were a bunch of worms. Her evil crow familiar came out very creepy. The dark blue background makes Maleficent's figure sick out in the foreground. I think that is everything worth mentioning. This lovely digital art wallpaper deserves 5 stars rating.

Today, I wanted to feature some amassing digital art wallpapers. They were all made by Sakimichan. Sakimichan is a group of digital artists from Japan. From time to time, they illustrate fanarts of anime shows. Keeping this in mind, I will now start rating their artwork. The first digital art wallpaper is called "Birth of a Mermaid". In the center, we see a mermaid inside an egg. All about her, other mermaids are swimming about. Overall, this digital art wallpaper is really pretty. Truly, Sakimichan deserves 5 stars rating.

Today, I wanted to review three lovely paintings by Adrian Borda. He is a traditional artist that features his artwork in DeviantArt. Now, let us review "She Had Flowers in her Hair". This painting was inspired by Gustave Klimt's "The Kiss". Like "The Kiss", we see a guy who wants to kiss his maiden. Unlike Klimt's painting, the maiden's face is more expressive. She also seems to be dying. Judging by the title, Borda speaks of the maiden in the past tense. She is dying in a beautiful fashion. As for the decoration, it is painted Art Nouveau style. Art Nouveau is all about the decorative art and pattern. It mostly exploits organic lines typical of Gothic art. As such, we have this cute painting. In any case, Borda's lovely painting deserves 5 stars rating.

Today, I wanted to review some amassing digital art wallpapers by Cryinghorn. He is a talented DA artist from Kaunas, Lithuania. He mostly illustrates pretty girls. Speaking of which, here we have the first featured digital art wallpaper. It is called "Open Green". It is about the pretty green dress of this lady. The fabric of the dress looks quite realistic. The green sphere is also pretty cool. Truly, this Cryinghorn digital art wallpaper deserves 5 stars rating.

Today, I wanted to feature 5 amassing artworks by Yuehui Tang. He is a talented artist from CG Society. He also hosts his artworks in DA. Now let us stars with the reviews. The first digital art wallpaper is called "Beijing Opera". Needless to say, we have have an actress in a Beijing Opera. Her entire dress is lovely ornamented. I like best the empress crown. It is reminiscent of crowns worn by Chinese Empresses. Her poses are a common sight in Beijing Operas. The decorative background also works pretty well. This lovely digital art by Yuehui Tang deserves 5 stars rating.

Books Review: The Complete Fashion Sourcebook by John Peacock

Part of my many hobbies includes reading random art books. During my search for good art book to read, I discovered this book. The Complete Fashion Sourcebook by John Peacock gives us sample illustrations of fashion between the 1920s and 1980s. Each time period has a little introduction about the fashion of the time. From then on, he shows us some sample attires based on the time of day or usage. They range from day, night, wedding, leisure and night dresses. From time to time, he takes time to illustrate fashion accessories.
